Pages and reusable structure#

The Pages panel provides the overview for a multipage layout. Add or delete pages, duplicate a spread and navigate to the page you want to edit. Parent pages hold repeated elements and structure that can be applied across document pages, making them useful for consistent running material and recurring layout features.

Margins and columns establish content areas. Guides, document grids and baseline grids help position objects and align text. Smart Guides assist with alignment during movement. Use snapping where it helps, and inspect the result at a readable zoom rather than assuming a snapped object is necessarily in the right place.

  1. Set the page count and organize the document in the Pages panel.
  2. Create or adjust shared parent-page structure for repeated elements.
  3. Enable suitable guides or grids and position the page content.

Navigate without changing output#

Fit Page and Fit Spread offer different views of the same document. Rotating the spread view changes how you inspect the layout rather than rotating the exported page. Preview, bleed and slug modes help distinguish finished content from production boundaries. After changing document setup or margin geometry, inspect text frames and images across the document because adjustment can affect many objects.
