Export PDF, IDML, EPUB and page images

Download files for print, reading, exchange and digital publication.

Applies to Design 0.8.0 on doc.et.

Choose the format by use#

Save the native DesignCraft document before creating a delivery file. PDF is the usual choice for a fixed page layout; the export dialog exposes page/output settings, marks, bleed and related options. PNG exports a rendered page. IDML provides an editable interchange package, but imported and exported layouts require visual review rather than an assumption of exact compatibility.

Reflowable EPUB lets content adapt to a reader’s screen. Fixed-layout EPUB preserves pages as images in this implementation, so it is not equivalent to live positioned text and CSS. HTML export creates a basic self-contained page rather than a complete multipage website. XML exports tagged content, while text export targets the story being edited.

  1. Save a native working copy and run preflight.
  2. Choose the export matching the reader or production task.
  3. Open the downloaded file in its intended viewer and check page layout, text and navigation.

Browser production boundaries#

Exports download through the browser. Print Booklet can produce an imposed PDF, but operating-system printer submission and folder packaging are separate desktop workflows. Do not use Package or Save a Copy as substitutes for the browser’s tested Save/download path. Multi-file book operations and CSV data-source selection also depend on desktop-style filesystem services that the web shell does not supply.
