Write and format slide text

Write with a clear hierarchy#

Insert a Text Box when content does not belong in an existing placeholder. Enter text, select the words you want to change, and use font formatting for family, size, emphasis and color. Paragraph controls manage alignment and list structure. A selected shape and an active text selection are different editing contexts, so check the selection before applying a change.

Use a small set of sizes for titles, body text and captions. Bullets and numbering communicate structure; indentation distinguishes supporting material. Text direction is available for right-to-left content. WordArt provides decorative text, while slide numbers and date/time fields provide recurring information without typing them as ordinary labels.

1. Insert a text box or enter a placeholder.
2. Select words to change character formatting, or work within a paragraph to adjust its alignment and lists.
3. Review the slide at presentation scale and shorten text that is difficult to read.

Typography when exchanging decks#

Font availability influences line breaks and text fit. The shipped browser uses its bundled fonts rather than acting as a desktop font manager. Inspect imported headings, special characters and dense paragraphs before presenting. Formatting choices that look acceptable on the editing canvas still need checking in the PDF or PPTX you distribute.
