Draw, style and arrange slide objects

Build diagrams from editable objects#

Insert shapes from the shape gallery and adjust their size and position on the slide. Text can be part of a shape, making the result useful for labels and process diagrams. Connector support links shapes at connection sites. Freeform geometry provides another option when a preset shape does not suit the illustration.

Shape Fill and Shape Outline control the interior and edge separately. Fills include solid colors and gradients; outlines include width and dash settings. Effects such as shadows, glow, reflection and bevel change appearance. Use effects sparingly enough that the object and its label remain distinguishable at presentation size.

1. Insert the shapes for a diagram and add their labels.
2. Select related objects and align or distribute them.
3. Group objects that should move together, then inspect their stacking order.

Manage complex slides#

Arrange commands bring objects forward or send them backward, rotate or flip them, and group or ungroup selections. The Selection Pane helps identify objects that overlap: rename objects, control visibility and lock them when appropriate. Locking reduces accidental moves while other items are edited. Add alternative text to meaningful graphics; decorative objects can be marked as decorative.
