Slides feature guide

Organize slides, layouts and themes

Build a consistent deck with slide layouts, sections, theme choices and master editing.

Applies to Deck 0.7.0 on doc.et.

Structure the talk#

Use the thumbnail strip or Slide Sorter to work on the order of the presentation. New Slide adds a slide; Duplicate Slide reuses a slide you have already built. Delete removes an unwanted slide, while Hide Slide keeps material in the document without treating it as part of the normal show. Sections help separate larger talks into understandable groups.

Choose a layout appropriate to the content before filling every slide manually. Layout placeholders and theme choices give related slides a shared visual structure. Slide Master view provides access to the inherited structure used by slides, so changes there can affect more than the currently selected slide.

  1. Add the main slides and arrange their sequence.
  2. Apply suitable layouts and group related slides into sections.
  3. Choose a theme and review every slide after changing shared design settings.

Check the whole deck#

Use Normal view for detailed editing and Slide Sorter for an overview. Outline View helps review the words and progression of the talk. Slide size, background, theme colors and theme fonts belong to the presentation design; check clipping and line breaks after changing them, especially in imported presentations.
