Animate objects and transition between slides

Control when objects appear and how the presentation advances.

Object animation and slide transitions#

Animations apply to objects on a slide. Select the object first, then choose an animation. The available classes include entrance, emphasis, exit and motion path. Applying an animation style replaces that object’s animations; Add Animation adds another effect, which matters when an object needs both an entrance and an exit.

Transitions apply between slides. Select the slide and choose a transition, then review its effect options and timing. A transition does not replace the object animations on that slide. Start with simple movement and confirm that the sequence helps the audience follow the information.

  1. Select an object and choose an animation in Animations.
  2. Use the Animation Pane to inspect the order and adjust timing.
  3. Choose a slide transition separately, then play the show to review both together.

Control the sequence#

Animation timing supports starting on a click, with the previous effect or after the previous effect. Duration and delay determine how fast an effect runs and when it starts. Effect options can build text as one object, by paragraph, by word or by letter. The registry also includes repeat, rewind and trigger settings. Check exported PPTX behavior independently: interoperability is not a guarantee that all timing details survive.
