Mail merge and document forms

Prepare personalised letters and reusable document controls.

Applies to Word 0.7.0 on doc.et.

What you can do#

Mail merge connects a document to recipient records. The browser file picker accepts CSV, TSV and supported spreadsheet recipient lists. Insert merge fields where the letter should vary, then preview several records before creating the merged result. Address blocks, greeting lines and field matching help structure common correspondence.

The Developer controls provide structured places for users to enter text, choose a list item, select a date or toggle a checkbox. Design Mode and Properties help configure these controls. Their presence does not provide an online submission service: a document form remains part of the document being edited and saved.

Try it#

Use clear column headings in the source data and verify missing values in the preview. This implementation does not send email merges or connect to Outlook contacts or databases. Advanced custom XML binding is also not evaluated, even when imported backing data is preserved.

  1. Choose Mailings → Start Mail Merge and select recipients.
  2. Insert the required merge fields into the document.
  3. Use Preview Results and move through several recipient records.
  4. Check for errors, then use Finish & Merge and save the output.
