Sheets feature guide

Review, protection, views and printing

Prepare a workbook for review and inspect its printed layout.

Applies to Grid 0.7.0 on doc.et.

What you can do#

Comments and notes attach explanations to cells. Review controls help show and navigate feedback. Sheet protection and editable ranges help prevent unwanted edits to a worksheet, but they are separate from file encryption. View controls such as freezing panes, zoom and page views make larger sheets easier to inspect.

Page Layout and print settings define what belongs on the printed report. Print areas, page setup and headers or footers should be reviewed alongside the data. The browser uses its print flow; desktop printer discovery and driver options are not part of this web edition. PDF export provides a separate file to inspect before sharing.

Try it#

Save an editable XLSX alongside the final output. The upstream PDF writer uses standard PDF fonts and has non-Latin text limitations, so verify text in every exported PDF, especially multilingual sheets. Workbook password opening does not imply password-protected saving; exported copies may be unencrypted.

  1. Add comments or notes to explain assumptions and unusual values.
  2. Freeze useful heading rows or columns for navigation.
  3. Set page layout and print area for the intended report.
  4. Export PDF or open the browser print flow and inspect the pages.
