PivotTables and PivotCharts
Summarise a data table by categories without rewriting the source.
Applies to Grid 0.7.0 on doc.et.
What you can do#
A PivotTable groups source records into a report. Put categories in Rows or Columns, numbers in Values and optional selection fields in Filters. The same source can answer different questions: total sales by product, counts by status or averages by group.
Value Field Settings choose the aggregation and supported display calculations, including percentages, running totals and rank. Layout and field placement determine the report structure. A PivotChart is linked to the PivotTable report and follows supported refreshes and layout changes. Calculated fields provide additional summaries based on source fields.
Try it#
Check whether a field is being summed or counted, particularly when numeric-looking text came from an import. PivotTables use their selected source and cached report state; adding records outside the source does not guarantee they are included. Review the source range and refresh before sharing totals.
- Select a clean source table with one heading per column.
- Choose Insert → PivotTable and select the destination.
- Add a category to Rows and a numeric field to Values.
- Check the aggregation, then refresh after source data changes.
